Hi Everyone,
As most of you know I have been working with the Niall Melon Township Trust for nearly a year now.
The Niall Mellon Township Trust was started by Niall Mellon in 2002. His aim is to build quality social housing for impoverished families living in shacks in the townships of South Africa.
- The charity operates a year round house building programme.
- We are now the largest charity provider of quality social housing in South Africa.
- Since the charity first started it has built 13,500
homes and that figure continues to grow.
In November this year I will be joining the charity in on one of it's twice annual trips to South Africa to take part in a building blitz, aiming to complete the works on a community of houses. The week will comprise of long, hard, labour intensive days and from what my friends and colleagues who have been on previous blitz's have told me, a very emotional and rewarding week. Life changing.
In order to go out to South Africa in November, each person must raise £4,000 GBP to go towards the cost of building these houses and employing a local labour force all year round. So far I have raised £2,600 through various sporting events, fundraising evenings and corporate sponsorship. However I still have a way to go and time is running out.
How you can help: There are a number of ways-
1) Simply make a donation via this just giving page and your donation will go directly towards my target.
2) I am running a number of 10k runs this spring and summer, the Deerstalker 10k and the Bupa Great Manchester 10k- you can sponsor me for running these events.
3) If any of you are also undertaking any runs or other events this year that you could raise some sponsorship from you friends and family for- you can ask them to support you in supporting me by donating via this link.
I will be keeping this page updated in the coming weeks, with news of upcoming fundraisers I will be hosting and other events I will be running, once confirmed, (3 peaks Challenge 2010).
So if you think you can help in anyway, please get in contact or make a donation, however big or small, it all helps.
Finally, a big thank you to everybody who has helped me raise the £2,600 so far.
Stephen
