Nelson's Journey is my office chosen charity for this year. Any and all our fund raising efforts are designed to support them over this 12 month period. They are a Norfolk charity that supports children and young people up to their 18th birthday who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life. They provide a range of support, appropriate for the needs of each child or young person. This may include one-to-one support and opportunities to meet others their age who have also experienced a bereavement. Having recently met them and some of the people who have passed through their doors I have seen what a brilliant team they are, what a need there is for the support they provide and how well they deliver that support. 

My youngest son Oliver was 21 in March, we postponed this trip to cater for his exams but in about two weeks time we take our motorbikes to Harwich and from there plan to travel down through Holand, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and return much the same way but via Austria. 

The thing is I passed my bike test only a month or so ago so this is something of an endurance test for me, and a guide and support role for Oliver who has done it before. If by sending some serious travel footage back to our blog, and sharing some photos of amazing mountain scenery on the way, whilst spreading the news to the inevitable motorcycling fraternity who we meet along the way, helps raise awareness of the great work of this charity, and in doing so can raise some cash to support their efforts, it will be a trip that delivers at many levels.

We had not originally envisaged raising funds, but since planning the trip we met Nelson's Journey. We have flagged £2000 as a goal as that is about the mileage we will cover, though with two bikes we will double that and it would be great if we manage to double our target.
