When I was asked in January if I would take part in a trek to Mount Kilimanjaro, I thought September was forever away, of course I'll do it, now not so much....as I write this it is less than 4 weeks away. The good news is that I have been training hard, climbing Snowdon a number of times in recent weeks, I did intend to camp over a weekend to get used to living in a tent, however, I decided not to, it was raining and I didn't want to get wet and cold!!
Kilimanjaro is the highest free standing mountain in World, just short of 20,000 feet. The temperature will range from +26 to -26,the equivalent of trekking from the equator to the Artic in 8 days.
When I agreed to do this, it was for self achievement really, I didn't initially do this to raise money for charity, however, I recognised it would be a missed opportunity.
I came across an organisation named The Legacy Rainbow House, a charity that specialises in providing services for children with brain injuries, disabilities and life limiting injuries. I can't begin to explain the work they do, the difference that they make and when i visited them and sat in on the sessions, I just knew I had to do all I could to help them raise money, as they do not receive any state or lottery funding.
Please take a little time to look at their website at http://www.thelegacy-rainbowhouse.com/more_info.asp?current_id=53 to understand the work they do.
Please help me raise money for them, I'll do the hard work, anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated.
