Story
On 19th September 2019 I’m joining Team Salamon in attempting a Tube Challenge to raise funds for The OLLIE Foundation in memory of Oli Leigh who took his life on the 1st of May 2018. We are going to try and visit as many stations as possible in one day without getting off the tube!
I was group supervisor for Oli's practise walk while he was a participant of the Duke of Edinburgh's award.
During the walk, Oli’s happy disposition uplifted the group and his leadership skills were key to the group’s success. I’m sure he would have gone on to great things.
I would like to show support to Michelle (Oli’s mum), Scott (Oli’s brother) and their family by raising funds for The OLLIE Foundation.
The OLLIE foundation was founded in 2016, by three parents who had all lost their teenage sons to suicide. They vowed to do all they could to prevent other families suffering similar tragedies. The OLLIE Foundation (One Life Lost is Enough) is a registered charity funding suicide intervention skills training for adults working with young people.
On the 19th September 2019 I will be joining Team Salamon in attempting to visit as many stations as possible on the London Underground within 18 hours. I’ve wanted to attempt this challenge for a long time and feel this is a great cause to support while undertaking such a challenge.
Team Salamon & I want to remember Oli and raise funds to prevent others suffering in silence until they feel there is no other way out. We see awareness, prevention and intervention training for as many people as possible who come into contact with vulnerable young people as the best way of combating suicide, the biggest killer of under 35's in the UK.
