Story

Update on 3 February 2011: I ran this race for mesothelioma after colleague and friend Steve Lee was diagnosed with the disease. Steve died on 30 January. He will be greatly missed, and long remembered.

And some news just in (3 Oct 2010) ... job done, pasty consumed. I wasn't last and I finished day 3 before sunset (just). Torrential rain during and overnight before the event made for gruelling conditions.

I'm taking on the Atlantic Coast Challenge on 1-3 October 2010. Billed as one of the toughest endurance events in the UK, this is a race on foot from Padstow to Land's End in Cornwall (check out the video, with the photos). More than a marathon a day for three consecutive days, along the coastal and clifftop path. Outstanding natural beauty, majestic and rugged, wild and windy ... but enough about me ...

In return, I hope that you will sponsor me for the June Hancock Mesothelioma Fund. Mesothelioma is lung cancer caused by asbestos and has struck a good friend by the name of Steve Lee. It is terminal and there is no cure ... yet.

JustGiving is an easy way to donate and you won't get spam. The money goes direct to the June Hancock Fund and the gift aid is added automatically.

My reward for this is a pasty. And to hurt in new and interesting ways. Yours, for donating, is the warm fuzzy feeling inside that comes from doing A Good Thing.

Go on ... pull out that plastic and hit it!

About the charity

The Fund was created in 1997 to raise awareness of mesothelioma, fund research, and to support patients and carers. We have raised more than £1 million, mostly in small donations from those personally affected, for research, a helpline and educational/information events across the country.
