Story

I once heard a little story about a teacher asking their class of primary one's about the difference between kindness...and loving kindness.

  Teacher: what is kindness?

Child : that's when I'm hungry and my mum makes me a sandwich.

Teacher: ok...so what is loving kindness?

Child: that's if she put jam on it.

I heard about the Make it Happen fund when I started working for Turning Point Scotland..and immediately thought it is a fantastic way to be able to do something just a wee bit more to help someone. To me this sounds like being able to "put the jam on the sandwich for someone who's maybe never had that...or really needs to feel it".

In my job...I am able to try and navigate the system a little and help someone access the basic things which they are entitled to... however, in my personal experience I know that our basic human needs being met is not enough to make a person feel like they matter....

In having access to this fund I can not only help people access there basic human needs but I can look outside the box and see if there is something that can help this person as an individual. Maybe help them to see another way to live and maybe even experience a little loving kindness at the same time.

I am one of the most unfit people I have ever met! Having spent a morning exerting a little energy recently I have realised just HOW unfit I actually am..as I flinch with every movement and whinge at my husband if he dares touch my arms as he hugs me!!! So running 10k is NOT going to be an easy feat! Furthermore.. I did do this race in 2015 and swore never again!!

However... I see a way to contribute something small to a wonderful cause...and ask for your support in any way you can.
