Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are raising money for charity in memory of Simon who dedicated much of his career to public service and raising funds for a number of charities.
In September 2021, Simon was diagnosed with glioblastoma grade 4, an aggressive form of brain tumour. He faced this challenge with courage, undergoing surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. He remarkably regained physical fitness, even passing his police fitness test in March 2022, resuming his beloved voluntary role as a Special Sergeant with the police.
Tragically, in June 2022, we received the news that Simon’s tumour had returned, and further treatment was not possible.
On 15 October 2022, after a three-week stay, Simon peacefully passed away at the Peace Hospice Watford.
The care provided by the hospice team was exceptional, and we are deeply grateful to the nursing staff and caregivers. With just 8 inpatient beds, we were so fortunate to secure a place at the hospice. Operating on a fraction of its required funds, the hospice relies heavily on donations.
To ensure that other families facing similar situations can experience the same level of care, we aim to raise awareness and funds for more hospice beds. Your contribution, regardless of its size, will be warmly appreciated.
Join us in honouring Simon’s legacy by contributing to our fundraising initiative.
Warm regards,
Susie & Family
