Swavesey Veterans 3 Peaks Challenge
Fundraising for The Fire Fighters Charity
The boys will be raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity and for Swavesey Primary School Mountain of Books project. All sponsorship donations will be gratefully received.

The Firefighters Charity Every year, thousands of fire fighters are injured whilst protecting the public. Every 30 seconds in the , fire fighters are called to an incident, putting their lives on the line, and often sustaining physical injuries whilst carrying out their duties. The Fire Fighters Charity is for fire fighters during their times of need, and assists over 13,500 individuals every year, by providing pioneering treatment and support services. It costs over £9 million every year to keep the Charity running, and with no government funding, they are completely reliant upon donations from the general public and fire community. The of Books Project 2009-2010 is ’s Year of Reading and they are focusing on standards of reading and reading for enjoyment throughout the school. Many children, boys particularly, can find other things including computer games to interest them as they grow up. The school is hoping to instil a love of reading that will grow, as they do, and give them a skill to enhance their adulthood. To do this the school library needs a large number of additional books to promote enjoyment and a desire to read much, much more. The will ensure that every penny raised will be put towards this important resource for the children of the village. The Challenge The 3 peaks of Great Britain Challenge begins at Ben Nevis in Scotland which rises up to 1344m and is the highest peak in the UK, next after a 6 hour minibus drive is Scafell Pike in the Lake District, England which is 978m high and lastly after a further 5 hours driving is Mount Snowdon in Wales which is 1085m high and the finish post. Reaching the finish post the team will have climbed more than 10,000 feet, walked over 20 miles and driven over 500 miles.
