Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page (regular updates on our progress given at the foot of this page).

I’m raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and I’d really appreciate your support.

On Sunday, 14th March 2010 myself, Tom Upton, Robin Parker, Dan Burke and Bruce Dougall will all be participating in the Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon at the world famous motor racing circuit on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Why have we chosen the Cystic Fibrosis Trust?

Well, in September, 2009 my son Alec Wesley was born with CF so I decided to get off my backside and support the Trust which is vital in funding research to treat and cure CF. Tom, Robin, Dan and Bruce have kindly offered their support and will compete alongside myself over the torturous 13 and a bit miles (gotta get that essential training in lads!).

A little bit about CF.....

Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases and affects over 8,500 people in the UK.

Over two million people in the UK carry the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis – that’s around 1 in 25 of the population.

CF affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food.

Each week, 5 babies are born with CF and each week, 3 young lives are lost to CF.

Around half of the Cystic Fibrosis population can expect to live over 31 years, although improvements in treatments mean a baby born today could expect to live even longer.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. JustGiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation so it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Our aim is to help win this fight by raising funds in order to enable these improvements to continue so please sponsor us for this half marathon.

Thanks for your support.
