Story
Assalamu alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa barakatuh
In the name of God The Most Gracious The Most Merciful
I attended a recent programme in Birmingham Central Mosque run by Ummah Welfare Trust (UK based charity http://www.uwt.org ). They played a video showing some of the major areas affected by the civil unrest in Somalia and other places. What really affected me was the stories of mothers having to walk some few hundred miles to seek food/water. One particular account was of a mother leaving home with 6 children. By the time she reached her destination to the refugee camp she only had 2 she had to bury 4 of her own children along the way. This is happening today, in our time. There was not a dry eye after that presentation!
UWT as well as other charities are doing work to eliviate some of the issues on the ground. UWT are running a new project designed to provide a family started kit to help families get back on their feet. The following is a list items that will be provided to each family and costs £700.

I have pledged to fundraise, what I believe, is an achievable target of £3,500 – providing support to 5 families inshAllah.
With that in mind I am requesting everyone to dig deep and help out in the following ways!
1 - If 10 people can commit to contributing for 12 months that means a monthly donation of £29.17
2. 2 - If 20 people can commit to funding for 12 months that means a monthly donation of £17.50
3. 3- Donate as much as possible!
4. For those of you who are working professionals please can I humbly request that you consider either option 1 or 2. As we know there are numerous virtues mentioned in spending in charity so please take this as an opportunity to increase your own hasanat!!
