Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.
I have taken part in the Isle of Wight Randonnee on several occasions (the last time on a tandem) and last year took part in the Macmillan London to Brighton 100km Cycle Challenge - these have been warm ups for my next challenge. ….
….In July this year I will be taking part in the London to Paris Cycling Challenge. This is one of Europe’s most iconic bike rides and one of those sporting experiences most cyclists would want to tick off at least once in their life.
This time I’ll be covering more than 480km in just four days. Taking on long days in the saddle and some strenuous hill-climbs, the sight of the Eiffel Tower at the finishing point, will hopefully evoke a real sense of achievement, safe in the knowledge that the challenge will be helping Macmillan Cancer Support improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
42% of us will get cancer and we're all affected by it. I lost my grandmother to cancer in 2010 and have two aunts who are breast cancer survivors who both say they do not know how they would have coped without the support of their Macmillan nurse.
I’ve paid £160 for the “privilege” of cycling 480km, and have so far spent a further £150 on ‘pimping up’ my bike! So if I can part with the cash AND feel the pain of the ride, I’m hoping that most of you will find it in your hearts to donate to this very worthy cause. Even if it is only £1 you will be helping me to reach my £1600 target!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks for reading and hopefully donating to such a worthy cause.
