Nia runs services for women and girls who have been subjected to sexual and domestic violence and abuse, including prostitution. They have been fighting male violence against women and girls since 1975 and support around 2000 women/year. Increasingly they need to advocate for women to try to ensure that they can access rights, justice and support. 

Why does it matter?

• Male violence against women is the leading cause of premature death for women globally
• Approximately 85,000 women are raped every year in England and Wales
• Only around 15% of those who experience sexual violence report it to the police
