Story

*** Due to the amazing amount we have received, we have raised our target by a further £2500 which will help an additional 250 veterans! Thank you so much to all of our supporters.

Team Sunbelt is taking on an exciting new event launched by Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) this September, with our keen cyclists pedalling from Amsterdam to Paris in the Battlefield Bike Ride challenge.

As strategic partners for WWTW, we are thrilled to have signed up with 9 riders cycling 80 miles a day for 5 days in support of those who have served. Travelling through iconic battlefields such as Ypres and the Somme the challenge combines following in the footsteps of those who have served with raising much needed funds for veterans and their families, so get behind our team today.

Our cyclists taking on the challenge are already in strict training regimes in order to meet the challenging pace and distance to travel. Why not connect with them on LinkedIn to keep up with their journey updates.

The Challenge

The Battlefield Bike Ride challenge takes place on the 25th September – 29th September 2023. Run by WWTW, supported by Ride Captains and experienced cycle management company White Rock Events, up to 24 riders will take part. The cyclists begin in Amsterdam and cross through some of the First World War battlefields as they make their to Paris, taking in Renesse, Ypres and Amiens along the way. A military historian accompanies the team and gives the chance for them to learn and reflect on the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces during their journey.

The Charity

We are proud supporters of Walking With The Wounded (WWTW), a leading military charity which has been changing lives and helping those who have served since 2010. The WWTW team carries out vital work across the UK to support those struggling to settle back into society. This could be simply due to missing the wrap-around support network they were previously part of, or perhaps due to hidden mental or more visible physical wounds from their time serving.

At Sunbelt Rentals we have a sustainability action plan, Our Planet, to transform lives and lead positive change across the rental industry to deliver a better future. We’re committed to supporting our Veterans, and in 2022, we were awarded the MOD Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award, recognising our efforts. Our aim is to continue to provide appropriate resources, recruitment, recognition and retention to support ex-service personnel from all areas of the defence community to thrive in new careers.
