Story
Thank you for clicking the link and visiting our page! Well, it's been over a year since my last challenge and I needed some motivation! So, to get me active again, and to raise money for an extremely worthwhile cause, I will be taking part in the Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk Marathon on Sunday 12 September 2010! This time though I have enlisted a team mate in the shape of my friend Elizabeth - and Team Wells-Wilkins was born!
Walking may not sound as challenging as running or cycling, but believe me walking for around 8 to 9 hours in whatever elements our weather system decides to throw at us whilst trying to remain positve and cheerful will definitely be a challenge! Training has begun in earnest, I have the first 6 mile training walk under my belt and Elizabeth is never out of the gym! Over the course of the next 6 weeks we will gradually increase the mileage we cover so by the time the event rolls round we have half a chance of completing it in one piece and still smiling!
A little bit about the cause, Alzheimer's Society is the leading care and reseach charity for people with dementia and their carers. There are 700,000 people with dementia in the UK today. It affects millions of families - one in three older peole will end their life with dementia. Your support couldn't be more vital or more appreciated.
And here comes the Science ... donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Your support means so much to Team Wells-Wilkins and the funds we raise will be what gets us over the finish line (ok, that and the thought of a glass of something chilled ....)
THANK YOU!
