MPDs (myeloproliferative disorders) are rare blood cancers that affect people of all ages.  These disorders cause debilitating fatigue, blood clots, heart attacks, strokes and increase the risk of leukaemia. 

MPD-Support was formed in 2006, it is a charitable foundation and it is their goal to raise funds to support research to find a cure for myeloproliferative disorders. It is vital that research and drugs-trials happen, and that patients and their families are offered help, information, support and guidance.  MPDs are not "sexy" or well known diseases, and they need constant charitable donations to fund all these things.

I have chosen to support this charity because David a close friend of mine was diagnosed with an MPD 5 years ago, it has changed his life dramatically ever since. His courage and determination to fight it has been an inspiration to me and to everyone else that knows him. I am therefore running a Half Marathon for David and all those other people who are desperately unfortunate to have contracted the illness. I hope the money I raise can help treat and carry out further medical research for this condition. 

So, on 28th March this year I am going to be running the Liverpool Half Marathon. The last time I ran this far was when I was 26 and I believe I recorded a time of about 1hour 25mins. So 25 years on I'm cautiuosly optimistic of crossing the line around the 1 day 2.5 hour mark. But the time is irrelevant I just want to finish and raise as much money as possible with the support of all my friends and family.
