Story

The Morning Motley Crew are Paul Manning, Gary Eato, Lisa Eato and Julie Bullen.

Thanks for taking the time to visit The Morning Motley Crew's JustGiving page.

On Sunday 6th June 2010 Hilton Hotels throughout the UK and Ireland are inviting members of their local communities to travel "Around the World in a Day" as part of Hilton in the Community Foundation's national charity event.

Around the World in a Day participants will collectively aim to travel the circumference of the earth - 24,901.55 miles! - by taking part in one of two events: the competitive Team Challenge or the more relaxed Miles4fun, designed for families.

Hilton team members, charity partners and the public will work together in over 70 hotels to cover as many sponsored miles as possible.  All proceeds raised in the Sheffield area will go to The Sheffield Association for People with Cerebral Palsy.

SHEFFIELD ASSOCIATION FOR PEOPLE WITH CEREBRAL PALSY (SAPCP) Enables people with cerebral palsy to integrate with mainstream society and promotes independence. Provides support, advice, counselling, home visits, recreation, grants and advocacy.

Cerebral Palsy (cp) is a not disease or an illness. It is the description of a physical impairment that affects movement. The movement problems vary from barely noticeable to extremely severe. No two people with cp are the same - it is as individual as people themselves. 'Cerebral Palsy' includes a variety of conditions. The three main types correspond to injury to different parts of the brain:

·    People with spastic cp find that some muscles become very stiff and weak, especially under effort. This can affect their control of movement.

·    People with athetoid cp have some loss of control of their posture and tend to make involuntary movements.

·    People with ataxic cerebral palsy often walk unsteadily and can experience difficulty attempting precise movement.

The ever competitive Morning Motley Crew like a physical challenge so are taking part in the Team Challenge and trying to clock up as many miles as possible on cardiovascular equipment, in a gruelling non-stop 7 hours! Competing against other teams across throughout the UK and Ireland.
