Story
On Monday 25th October 5 ZSL employees will be running 26.2 miles in the Dublin Marathon to raise vital funds for the Zoological Society of London (ZSL).
As you are aware, ZSL is a registered charity dedicated in its mission to promote and achieve the world-wide conservation of animals and their habitats. Achieving this mission has never been so important. Animal extinction rates are increasing and some of the world’s most charismatic species are now on the brink of extinction.
The threats to wildlife are many: from the escalation in human population to the destruction of animal habitats, diseases and climate change. These problems do not have simple solutions but ZSL is an organisation that has the capacity to change the outcomes of the most threatened wildlife.
The Sumatran tiger is just one example. There are less than 300 Sumatran tigers left in the wild. Their dwindling numbers are the direct result of poaching and conflict with humans as they seek new territories following the destruction of their natural habitats. With ZSL’s unique combination of scientific research at the Institute of Zoology, conservation programmes across the world and outstanding educational facilitates at both ZSL London and Whipsnade Zoos, ZSL can take a unique multi-pronged approach to the conservation of this great species and other animals but to do this, we are reliant on the generosity of our supporters to undertake our vital work.
Running a marathon is no easy feat but we would be extremely grateful if you could sponsor us to take on this challenge in order to raise much needed funds for ZSL.
Thank you
Team ZSL
