We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

We have madly agreed to do a skydive on the 20th of September, ahhhhh- throwing ourselves out of a plane has never been something that myself or Ellen has ever had the desire to do! But when we were recently offered the opportunity to do it, we jumped at the chance to do something to raise money for two worthy charities in memory of our amazing, brave, inspirational and beautiful cousin Sabrina Ryan (McNamee).

In 2009 Sabrina was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer, in the face of news no-one wants to hear Sabrina didn’t fall to pieces or give up, instead she decided to fight. Sabrina’s determination, bravery, courage and infectious positivity, meant she gave one hell of a fight, battling for 6 Years. During this time Sabrina, who loved all things fashion and most especially Weddings, got married to her equally amazing husband Paul. In true Sabrina form the wedding day was perfect from start to finish and Sabrina was the most gorgeous bride. She also decided she wanted to help other cancer sufferers, she was more than aware that there was no-one out there giving tips to cancer patients on things from how to draw on eyebrows or which wigs to get to even having someone to reach out to, and so she set up her blog SoSheKnows. Sabrina’s blog went from strength to strength as she discussed all the things she loved in life such as fashion, baking, and weddings. In addition to this she wrote honest and open posts about cancer and the trials she faced. It didn’t come as a surprise to anyone who knew Sabrina how successful her blog became, people not only up and down the country but also across the world where following her journey, sending her strength. Tragically, Sabrina passed away in April of this year, which resulted in an overwhelming outpour of condolences, love and support from every corner of the globe, which showed just how she truly touched the hearts of everybody who followed her story.

It is with this sky dive that we wish to CONTINUE her story and continue her fight!

As well as writing her blog and helping fellow cancer sufferers Sabrina was also a spokesperson for the Irish Cancer Society. She was determined to unite people in the fight against cancer in the hope that one day no-one would have to succumb to this disease. Sabrina left behind her a strong, inspiring legacy, which has spurred us into continuing her efforts in the fight against cancer. Therefore, we are going to split the total money raised between Cancer Research & the Irish Cancer Society that was so close to her heart.

We would be hugely grateful if you can give anything you can spare to help us continue this fight that Sabrina started, in the hope that that one day we won’t have to lose any more of our dear loved ones in this terrible way.

In the words of our dear Sabrina- “Everything in life happens for a reason, Love Fashion & Live Life.”
