Story
On 17th April 2011 I will be running the London Marathon and raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. My target is to raise over £2000 and with your help I know I can do it.
Why am I running 26.2 miles !!
My Dad (Clive) passed away on 12th December 2004 after a long battle with cancer. He would of loved to of taken part in the London Marathon, after all, he had already run numerous half marathons (and beat me to the finish line on one occasion !)and completed the London to Brighton Bike Ride two years running.
Macmillan Cancer Support were there for my Dad on a daily basis during the final months of his life, they were superb, raising this money is my way of saying thank you to them.
Please give generously to Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of my Dad.
Training is going well I'm running to the other end of Sittingbourne and back which is approx. 20 miles ! The evenings have drawn in so its time to don the hi vis !!
Looking forward to starting the boot sales to raise money. Canterbury looks like a good venue with a 5.30 am start !!!
Sunday 23rd January
Ran to the other end of Sittingbourne and back, thats 20 miles woohoo !
Raised £75 at the boot sale, thank you for your help Poppy xx
Wednesday 30th March
Have started tapering the training off, as recommended by the pros !
Under 3 weeks to go and I'm getting excited ! Charlotte, Marty and Poppy will be at mile 25 with the Macmillan team, I'm looking forward to seeing them at that stage to boost my final mile. Then its round the corner to the palace, wave to the Queen, smile for the camera and cross the line in style, job done.
Tuesday 12th April
Completed my last run ! Full carb diet this week( no biscuits ! ), 2-3 litres of water a day and early nights ! Five days to go, now I just want to be part of the whole experience. Come on legs don't let me down !!
Sunday 17th April
I done it, I completed the london Marathon. It was a hot one and not without its problems ! My legs started to say no at mile 24, I walked a while, changed my pace and carried on to the end. The atmosphere was electric, complete strangers shouting my name from all directiions. Macmillan were brilliant, the recovery centre was great, loads of food and drink and a lovely leg massage from a very nice young lady called Sylvie !! oh, and I shook hands with Sir Richard Branson !!
Thank you everyone for your support, keep donating as my page will be open until July !
