We provide sources of sustainable education to help children break the cycle of poverty
Story
I have completed 3 back to back marathons in 24 hours along the undulating Dorset Coastal Path over the weekend of 27/28 March, starting at 6pm on Saturday. Apart from refuelling at checkpoints along the 78.6 mile route (and a 40 minute delay by HM Coastguard concerned about weather conditions on the cliffs on the last 7 mile stretch) it was non-stop from Lyme Regis to Poole, taking in the whole of . 61 started and only 32 finished.
There have been a lot of “mad” related comments – well, maybe! It will not help when I say that I enjoyed the experience despite very muddy conditions, persistent ascents and descents (many steep enough to be stepped – see picture) and a navigational error at 3am resulting in a dead end hemmed in by a high security MoD compound, a 100m cliff and the sea, which involved extra mileage+nearly an hour long detour. The coastline is beautiful and navigating by moonlight only until 2am was an unexpected bonus. I’ve been sore since!
Karen and I started our family by adopting our first son from . We are lucky to have seen him grow up with us in good health. COCO does fantastic work for children who are not so lucky by funding projects in developing countries, importantly for us, including in , where these funds will be directed.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe. JustGiving never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, your money goes directly to the charity and Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a taxpayer. So it’s a very efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
We've supported since 2003 and would love it if you could help by donating now please - thank you so much
COCO’s purpose is to provide education to create the opportunity for children to break the cycle of poverty. We are currently working with communities in remote areas of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Our vision is a world where every child, everywhere has access to quality education.
