We provide hospice care in Worcestershire to give people the best quality of life

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My granddad, or 'Damps' as we called him, was treated for bowel cancer several years ago.  Although for a time he was free from this hideous disease, the cancer returned in his lungs a few years ago and despite chemotherapy we were told it was terminal and it was only a matter of time before we would lose our lovely Damps.

As Damps' condition deteriorated he was fortunate to be offered a bed at St Richard's Hospice.  Words cannot describe the love and care they provided for the whole family.  Twenty four hour care in peaceful and serene surroundings, overlooking a duckpond.  Doctors and nurses specially trained to deal with the final stages of life and the extremes of emotion we were all facing.  You only have to walk into the building to know it's a very unique and special place.

Their work is invaluable - they really did give Damps quality of life and dignity in death and they are always there with support for the rest of the family for as long as we need them - it is not time-limited in any way.

If we can repay them for their compassion and support through fundraising it will go some way to showing our appreciation and knowing that they can continue to be there for other families who will no doubt need them.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
