Kilimanjaro Climb

Kilimanjaro Climb · 4 June 2018
Hello,
Many thanks for taking the time to visit my page. Here is some information about what I will be doing and who it is for.
At the start of June I will be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro on behalf of a charity called Mvumi School Trust. The plan is to climb alongside my mother (she has opted for Great Ormond Street Hospital www.justgiving.com/fundraising/caroline-loup ). Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest freestanding mountain on Earth, with less than 50% of climbers making it to the top each year. Let's hope we will be in the successful bracket...
The charity works in rural Tanzania in a poor and underdeveloped area called Mvumi which is roughly 36km from Dodoma, the capital. The charity greatly aids both the school and the community. It has made vast improvements to the lives of many since its foundation in 1999. Generally, the charity helps by funding building work around the school, the sponsorship of roughly 130 students who cannot afford the school fees, and the finance of visually impaired students and their facilities. The VI unit is known as one of the best in Tanzania, if not the best. The quality of the unit is largely down to its members of staff and the Trust - last week a boy called Moses came all the way from Arusha, which is in Northern Tanzania, to begin his sixth form studies with the VI department. Such is the reputation the school has for providing high standards of education.
I have been in Mvumi since mid April and intend on staying until the end of May. I can say that it is like no other place I have been to before: it is abundantly clear that the Trust is seen with huge respect by all those within the school and the local community.
If you would like anymore information regarding the Trust and what it does, the link to the website is here: http://mvumischooltrust.org.uk , there are also some good videos on YouTube, just type in Mvumi School Trust.
A huge thanks to those who choose to donate and please, if you have any questions about the charity or the arrangements of the climb do not hesitate to ask, my email is tomloup4@gmail.com
