Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After 12 years of trying, I finally won a ballot place in the London Marathon this year! This has given a great opportunity for me to raise funds for a small but incredibly valuable charity that is close to my heart - the South East Cancer Help Centre (SECHC).
Most of you will know that my father-in-law Pete fought a long, hard battle against cancer. He was a brilliant man, always kind to me, sharp, with a dry wit that made him a pleasure to be around. Pete was a great husband and father. I will be running in his memory this year.
SECHC provided immeasurable help to Pete and all the family for over a decade, and continues to do so now. The help they provide to those fighting cancer, as well as their friends and family, is very important to the local area. The centre's funding is supported entirely by donations, so please give what you can.
The London Marathon needs little introduction, but I will be taking part for the first time this year. The iconic route provides lots of opportunities for support along the way - I would love to see you there on October 2nd - or maybe in a pub afterwards for a well-earned drink. My seemingly never-ending string of injuries sees me just recovering from a stress fracture in my foot, though my aim remains a PB, and to dip under 4 hours if training goes well. Any target-related donations are most welcome...
