We raise awareness of AIDS through cricket to strengthen communities and fight disease

Story

Hi everyone,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have had a fantastic opportunity to become involved in a charity  - Cricket Without Boundaries.

CWB combines cricket with AIDS awareness and I will be visiting Botswana in October 2009 to tutor and coach people to become coaches and deliver training sessions to children. Within these sessions, I will also be talking about AIDS and its prevention. The aim is to spread the great game of cricket to the local communities whilst delivering AIDS awareness messages to the young poeple - By delivering AIDS messages with a cricket theme, it is hoped that this will create a lasting impression and understanding that will ultimately save lives and reduce suffering.

The money donated will buy cricket kit, t-shirts, etc for the future coaches and children in Botswana. At the end of the stay we will organise a cricket festival for the new coaches and children.

I will be paying my own way to Botswana (including food, visa and insurance).

About the charity

Cricket Without Boundaries is dedicated to helping, educating and developing local communities around the world through the spread and growth of cricket. Crucially, CWB also uses cricket as a tool in the fight against AIDS. CWB’s training sessions have at their heart discussion about the disease in terms of prevention, treatment and equality of treatment for those with and without the disease.
