How many of you know me well enough to recall that other than running for the bus, the only time I have ever raced competitively before 2005 was at a school sports day about 30 years ago? On that occasion I entered the 800m - and was lapped by all bar one of the other competitors!
Well, 2005 is now my year. Alongside everything else that's happening in the coming months, I'm about to take part in the world's greatest marathon. Fortunately, as there's only one lap (albeit a rather long one), I'm not likely to experience the same ignominy as that earlier race! Will I get round? Well, I fully intend to. Mind you, after the pain and agony that accompanied my first half-marathon just 4 weeks before the "Big One", I know it's going to be a real challenge. If you're watching on the day, please cheer me on - I know it will help. My running number is 38879, if you want to check how I did afterwards on the London Marathon website. In taking part, I am also hoping to raise as much money as possible money for "Get Kids Going" - there's information about the charity on the left. Please join in and sponsor me online.
