Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.  Me and my dad are both stroke survivors.

I can now say It makes me happy to be able to tell my story, in the hope that it will raise awareness and raise money for the Stroke Association.

I was 36 when I had my stroke . On November 11th 2003,  I suffered a TIA at home and then shortly after while in A&E that same night I suffered a stroke, this changed my life forever, and I remember the night as if it were yesterday .The sheer reality of what had happened that night became very real and dealing with having a Stroke is one of the most difficult things I have faced in my life, not just the fear at the time but living with the fear every minute of everyday that this may happen again.

My stroke was caused by prescription drugs, while having our third IVF treatment, I was not prescribed an anti coagulant drug. My stroke consultant confirmed this was the only cause of my stroke and a mistake by the hospital, the same hospital that helped give us our gorgeous son Connor. Although it was good to have an explanation as to why my stroke was caused, it was still very difficult coming to terms with what had happened  and understanding at the time that we would not be able to have any more children just added to our fears .

10 years on, and  being lucky enough to add to our family by adopting our gorgeous Carla and after invaluable help and counselling from the NHS, The Stroke Association, my lovely Tim, family and friends,  I can look back and think yes that time was tough but I am here and very happy to be here.

Now I would to try and help others who are where I was and to raise money for Stroke Association will hopefully help more people cope with life after a stroke .

I will be so grateful if you are able to sponsor me every donation really does  mean so much .
