We fund life-changing and life-saving work to support cancer patients at The Christie
Story
On the 20th August we are attempting to cycle the challenging Trans Pennine Trail (TPT). This is no ordinary challenge as the TPT stretches 210 miles from Hornsea on the East Coast (nr ) to on the West Coast, is mostly off road and climbs 1600ft over the .However, to make it even more interesting we’ll be doing it in one go from start to finish and aim to cover the entire journey in under 36hrs. This will mean riding approximately 50 miles at night with our candles! The team is made up of Dave Prole, Guy Mason, Stuart Sinclair on the bikes and providing vital operational support Gary Hill. The riders have all completed long rides before but nothing on this scale or with the added complexity of night time riding and no sleep.Such a challenge deserves a worthwhile charity and the group have selected The Christie as they have provided fantastic support to Julie Hulmes, a friend of Guys who died of cancer in the prime of her life and they are providing support to Guy’s uncle who has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Very recently Stuart’s father Jim, was also diagnosed with cancer and this charity will undoubtedly play an active part in helping him and his family deal with the situation that they now find themselves in.Please give generously as this is a real feat of endurance and if you could see the training (cakes, chocolate and beer to up the carbs) the guys have undergone you’d realise how daunting this challenge is!
The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds.
Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.
