Story
Well, fancy that! I actually managed to finish this Marathon thing!
The fates of injury and illness endeavoured to conspire against me even starting the race and there were a number of times enroute at around 18-20 miles when finishing was seriously in doubt.
I eventually got round in 3hr 49min 33sec. So, I managed to get under the 4hr target. This was largely due to a life and death duel for the last two miles with a man dressed as a bannana. There was no way I was going to get beaten by Mr Potassium!
It was a fantastic day - the crowds were amazing and London seemed to be brimming with so much positive energy.Thankyou all so much for all the support, both financial and phycological. I never really thought that i could get anywhere near my target but thanks to your generosity it is becoming distinctly feasible. This Just Giving page is still active, so anybody still holding back to see if i actually finished (and survived) can still contribute to the cause.
It was hard, hard work but an experience I will never forget. So, would I do it again, some of you have asked? Well, as one particular hero suggested "it's not the age, it's the mileage!". I know where he's coming from - but never say never...Thanks again!
