Story
As part of the Deloitte Transaction Services away day there is a breakout session where each group of colleagues undertakes various charity and corporate initiatives. A group of masochists amongst us will be jumping on a spin bike for around 3.5 hours solidly whilst covering a stage of the Tour de France, and to make it harder it will be a hilly stage. (Cycling enthusiasts amongst you may spot that 3.5 hours isn't a full stage tour - we will cut out the flat boring bits!!)
Whilst the other groups on the day are giving back to the community in a direct manner through offering skills and expertise, we are going down a more traditional fundraising approach. Deloitte have kindly offered to match up to £5000 of donations, and with JustGivings tax position we also make around another 30% of every donation made. There is detail below on the good work Impetus PEF do every year and it really is a great charity.
Amongst the group we have representation from all Business units within TS - PMI, London TS and Regional TS. And as we're a competitive bunch, we thought we'd see how well each team does in the race prep - which is the fundraising. Across our teams we'd like to raise £8500, which equates to over £15000 when we add on the Deloitte contribution and Tax benefits.
A little about the Charity:-
Impetus – The Private Equity Foundation (Impetus-PEF) transforms the lives of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK by ensuring they get the support they need to succeed in education, in work, in life. We find, invest in and build the best charities in the country working with these young people, helping them to have a bigger impact and on more young lives. We do this by providing them with a unique package of funding, management and pro bono support. This, and our work to influence the policy and resource decisions that impact.
