Story
Dear All!
Our team lives in Canada, Germany and India. We have Ghettos, so does Paris, London, New York, Chicago. We know this for fact because as we all have visited many of them. Recently we visited slums in Mumbai and Bangalore and heard there are slums in Manila, Bangkok and many refugee camps all over Europe that are more slums than ghettos.
What we saw in slums were people with spirit, hope, willingness to lend a hand, accept hand, sense of thankfulness and pride. Slums may not have running water, facilities for basic human hygiene, but they do have a vibrant economy and community.
Ghettos on the other hand has running water, facilities for basic human hygiene, but no hope, no economy, dependency on politicians and bureaucrats, a perfect place for radicalization towards any cause irrespective of its heinousness.
Western economies do best efforts to convert slums into community housing and then into ghettos. To them it represents progress. We are here to disagree. Our commitment is to help slums become better communities without taking out the spirit that is alive and well there. Any economy aiming for smart cities have to put smart villages in place first, connecting the socio-economic infrastructure across the entire nation.
We are inviting you to join our series of Endurance Fundraising Event, Innovation and Transformation Hackathons that are designed to support and explore how do we responsibly transform slums into community living before the privileged bureaucracy sets into motion.
We are proud to have strong partners and associates at our side to make our vision a reality – our team around Liter of Light Bangalore is living proof that leveraging life by upcycling waste can be managed locally as long as we support with our sustainable global networks. Become part of it.
Thanks in Kind.
