Story
I cannot believe I have actually signed up to do this - I'm overweight, have never ran more than 10k in my entire 38 years, was the one at school who sneaked off during cross country to the nearest hedge for a quick cig and quite frankly if I manage to finish it will be a miracle!
All this positivity aside, the training is well underway - the plan I'm following I have been assured is fool proof, the smoking stopped years ago and hopefully some of the weight will vanish into the country lanes where I am training in these wonderfully warm conditions!!
Nonetheless, by far the most important factor to all of this, is who and why I am running the most famous race in the world? The answer - for the most amazing charity, who do fundamentally important work supporting people with disabilities and constantly raising awareness both here in the UK and abroad.
The money I am hoping to raise will go towards No 1 Lavender Fields in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. Lavender Fields is a home providing a range of services for young people with physical disabilities aged between 16 and 24, the management and staff do a fantastic job working with young people helping them with daily tasks that we all take for granted to learning new skills that contribute towards leading independent lives.
