Story
A good friend of mine was diagnosed with MPD 4 years ago and it is a condition that needs a great deal more research. MPDs (myeloproliferative disorders) are rare blood cancers that affect people of all ages. These disorders cause debilitating fatigue, blood clots, heart attacks, strokes and increase the risk of leukaemia. Now on 4 th September 2010 a group of us will be abseiling 34 storeys (496 ft) down Guy's Tower, the world's tallest hospital building to raise money for MPD Support.
MPD-Support was formed in 2006, it is a charitable foundation and it is their goal to raise funds to support research to find a cure for myeloproliferative disorders. It is vital that research and drugs-trials happen, and that patients and their families are offered help, information, support and guidance. MPDs are not well known diseases, and they need constant charitable donations to fund all these things.
Hopefully by doing this abseil we can raise as much as possible to help such a worthy cause. Obviously if the rope breaks you will still have to pay as I will have completed the descent!
