Story
Fresh Start came to the attention of our founder, Dr David Offord, in 2018. A fantastic cause and one that is close to David’s heart, he first spurred Team Vermilion on to raise vital funds for Fresh Start that same year when we walked 20 miles from Melrose to Kelso. There were a few blisters, aches and sores on the way (and after) but we did it and, together, we raised £2,500.
In 2021, we decided to walk the entire length of the Water of Leith Walkway - a total distance of 13 miles or a half marathon - to raise awareness and funds for this fantastic charity. Together, we raised £3,370!
We donned our walking shoes once more in 2022 to climb Ben Lawers, and bravely overcame all elements that Scotland's Summer presented us with to raise £3,492! Every donation gratefully received made it all worth it and really helped those who need it most.
This year will be slightly different as some keen members of our team will run the Hairy Haggis Relay route set out by Edinburgh's Marathon Festival on Sunday 28th May 2023!
Split into two groups, they will begin their run on Potterrow with the picturesque backdrop of The University of Edinburgh’s McEwan Hall, this incredible city centre route will take our team past many iconic sights of the City. They will run through Princes Street Gardens, down the historic Royal Mile, past Holyrood Palace and East towards the coast toward the finish line.
Running alongside the team, Vermilion’s Dr David Treagus, Practice limited to Endodontics will take on the Route himself – all 26.2 miles, a huge feat! Good luck David and team! And well done on taking on this momentous challenge!
All in aid for Fresh Start, our goal is to raise £2,000 for a Charity who work to help people make a home for themselves.
From all at Vermilion, thank you!
