Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Version 1 Belfast's JustGiving page.

During this year's Mental Health Awareness Week taking place this Monday 18th May - Sunday 24th May, Version 1 Belfast have teamed up with Positive Futures charity to help raise money as a way to express 'Kindness' which is the theme of this year's Mental Health Awareness week.

We are reaching out to all of those in the Version 1 Belfast office and to anyone else who would like to show an act of 'Kindness' to donate £10 and for every £1 you have donated we would love you to match that with 1,000 steps.

Therefore a £10 donation along with a walk of 10,000 steps (around five miles - can be broken up during the week) as a way of showing your 'Kindness' and to help spread awareness to those who are struggling with mental health issues during the current lock-down. This includes people with learning disabilities, acquired brain injury, or autistic spectrum condition, their families and those who work for Positive Futures.

About Positive Futures:

'Positive Futures is Northern Ireland's leading charity for people with a learning disability, acquired brain injury, or autistic spectrum condition. Our mission is to achieve dreams and transform lives. We  believe that the people we support have the same right as all of us to pursue dreams and ambitions, living in and contributing to the local community.

Established in 1995 in Bangor, in response to the lack of community care available to adults with a learning disability, the charity grew rapidly, expanding it's remit to children's services as well. Today the charity supports over 400 people and their families across Northern Ireland and has over 500 staff and 100 volunteers.

Positive Futures supports children, young people and adults, and their families, through a variety of services and projects including Supported Living, mentoring, family support, shared lives services and is currently piloting a Smart Support Service using internet enabled sensing devices and videophone technology to enable people with a learning disability to live as independently as possible whilst still being safe and secure and able to access support, via video or face to face, when they want and need to, without being tied to a prearranged schedule.

In addition to delivering our Services, Positive Futures speaks out for the rights of those who need our support. We work closely with decision makers, such as politicians at Stormont and Westminster, to ensure that public services for people with a learning disability are the best they can be.'

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank You!!!!
