Cathy Basiel and I have decided to organise an alternative running event – our very own 24 hour marathon.  On the hour, every hour, for 24 hours we will be running a loop of just over 1 mile.  For the remaining minutes of each hour we will be taking part in activities at our homes (apart from a few slots during the night where we will try to nap between runs).

We will be undertaking this challenge from 12pm on Saturday 3^rd November to 12pm on Sunday 4^th November 2018.

We have come into contact with Together in Barnet through volunteering at the winter night shelter for rough sleepers that they arrange in conjunction with local churches and synagogues.  Our church takes part in this scheme once a week for 2-3 months each winter by welcoming up to 17 people who attend the Homeless Action in Barnet day centre to have an evening meal at the church, stay overnight and have a cooked breakfast the next morning.  These guests are just ordinary people who are going through hard times and have found themselves living on the breadline.
