We Support asylum seekers who are also LGBT to reduce social isolation and gain support

Story

Rainbow Home is a small North East charity which supports Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Transgender people who are seeking asylum in the UK because they are at risk of harm, persecution, imprisonment or death in their home country.

If you're reaching this page now, we're nearly at the end of running the length of the equator (collectively, and socially distanced of course!). If you can spare a few pounds to support us and say thanks to all of our runners we would be very grateful. This will make a huge difference to our ability to continue our work.

If you've taken part then please send us your total distances! You should receive an email from us as a prompt, but if not you can email us at rainbow.home.runners@gmail.com

Thank you!

Help us run the equator and help those in need!

LGBT people seeking asylum from around the world have fled here for safety, but the current COVID-19 situation makes life challenging for our members and harder for us to continue to support them.

Our aim is to use our exercise allowance for good, with an easy goal... to run the equator!

During lockdown exercise is a great way to stay in shape and to feel energised. We want your help to run collectively around the earth’s widest point. It would take one person a really long time to do that but we think we can do it together! Whatever age you are and however you plan to cover your distance - we need you!

Will you help us by participating in our Rainbow Home Virtual Freedom Run?

How it works:
• Register to run by adding a minimum £15 donation to this page
• Register your entry on this link: https://forms.gle/VkdXZmrzWUBy2bjJ6 to be eligible for your medal.
• Run /walk /cycle/otherwise self-propel (according to government guidelines on social distancing) over the next few months.
• Keep a record of how much distance you cover in total between now and August 30th and email your total to rainbow.home.runners@gmail.com
• We’ll see how far we’ve all run together!

Entering children and dogs
Children: You can add two children under the age of 16 for free, just register them individually on our form with their age in brackets alongside their names. In the address field just add the associated adult's name and the first line of your address.
Dogs: You can register your dog by donating £2.50, don't forget to register them as above.

Entrants will receive a resin medal, hand cast, limited edition commemorating the event after June 30th (entries limited to 500)

Our goal:
To run the equivalent of the equator we need to jointly cover 40,000 km so if 500 people take part we would each need to cover the equivalent of 80km (or 3km a day for 27 days). The event begins on 26th April 2020 and ends on 31st August 2020. It’s a tough one but we think we can do it!

Will you help us by participating in our Virtual Freedom Run or by making a donation at this challenging time?

Thank you for your support,
the Rainbow Home team.
