Hello! Cheers for popping in on my JustGiving page.
I will be attempting the Goatham's Great Kent Cycle Ride 2019 over the weekend of 5th - 7th July, in support of the Kent Sports Trust Foundation and Help for Heroes charities. This challenging venture will involve cycling more than 200 miles over the course of just 3 days. Now, I am a keen cyclist but I have to admit that's a lot of distance to cover in the July heat!
I already had plans to head off to Scotland 3 weeks prior to this charity ride, so I thought why not challenge myself even further and throw Ben Nevis (Britain's tallest mountain) into the picture, and hike as many miles as possible over the course of my week north of the border!
This will be my first proper attempt at fundraising so I hope completing these challenges will be a good way to start, and at the same time give me the chance to prove my commitment to the Kent Sports Trust Foundation and Help for Heroes charities, both of which will be supported jointly in my fundraising. By participating in this event, we will not only be helping to encourage the people of Kent to become more active and make sport more accessible but we will also be supporting British servicemen and women who have been wounded or injured in the line of duty.
I have decided that if I succeed in reaching my fundraising target of £600 I will be automatically obligated to apply for next year's RideLondon! There has also been talk of attempting one of either Mont Ventoux or Alpe d'Huez in 2020 - in other words cycling to the top of a mountain in the Alps. Oh how I am going to regret mentioning that!
