We research early diagnosis and treatments to beat pancreatic cancer.

Story

Many thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Bank Holiday Monday May 31st I ran the streets of central London in this year's BUPA 10k event, to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, clocking a time of 54:33. As many of you will know, those of us that work at Nationwide lost a very dear friend at the end of April to the disease, and so this is just a small gesture to raise some money in Neal's honour. It's also a small step in my training for the Swindon Half Marathon in the autumn, when I shall be one of a group of over 30 participating in his memory.

The race took in many of London's famous sites including Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, The London Eye, Cleopatra's Needle, Lloyds of London, The Bank of England, St Paul's Cathedral and Admiralty Arch. Buckingham Palace acts at the backdrop to the Start and Finish.

The Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is dedicated to defeating the disease by funding innovative research into early detection and more effective treatments. This is done by offering research grants to both hospitals and universities within the UK.

Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is the only national charity dedicated solely to beating pancreatic cancer through research. Survival rates are low, so new research is vital. In the past, this cancer received little attention. With your help, we can change this so more people beat pancreatic cancer.
