Story
Nottingham College Fda and BA Hons Photography students have worked together to shoot 100 portraits of local women to celebrate the fabulous female population of Nottingham on International Women's Day. We've used '100' as a number guide, because it is 100 years since the suffragettes fought for the right for Women to Vote. We are running an event of the 100 images shown across various platforms throughout Nottingham. The project celebrates the skills, diversity and attributes that live in any one community. On the back of world events and to mark International Women’s Day, there is no better time to celebrate and promote the positives that females bring to all of our lives.
We are also putting on a gallery exhibition of these images plus the over 100 more we have taken in which we'll use as a fundraiser for Equation.
"1 in 4 women will still experience domestic abuse in their lifetime, so Equation challenge the attitudes and behaviours that cause domestic abuse. Their GREAT primary school project has won awards for enabling children to grow up understanding what a healthy relationship looks like and knowing how to build one for themselves. Equation give out safety information, support male survivors of abuse and bring the whole community together to provide the best possible response when abuse happens."
