Story
Climate and ecological breakdown is a very real and present danger. This week (15th to 19th July 2019) protestors are rebelling against the threat of mass extinction across the UK and in many countries across the world. These rebels are demanding greater and more immediate action to deal with the threat of runaway climate change.
Action includes the creation of new and preservation of old green spaces. Spaces where trees can grow and communities can come together. In London, Extinction Rebellion are camped out in Waterloo Millenium Green. This is a very special place; its development was led by people who live locally and it is a model example of the spaces we need to create in the UK.
The rebels currently camped out in this space are extremely grateful to the local residents for their patience and kindness. Over this week, individuals within the Extinction Rebellion movement will be raising funds to further support the development and maintenance of Waterloo Millenium Green. Donations will go directly to Bankside Open Space Trust.
Founded in 2000 and working in Southwark and Lambeth, Bankside Open Spaces Trust supports and inspires local people to improve, protect and enjoy green space in disadvantaged inner-city areas. BOST has developed and manages 15 parks and 12 community gardens. BOST aims to put local people at the heart of change in Bankside, bringing communities together as active citizens, whilst making a positive, lasting contribution to the environment.
We are extremely thankful for any donations.
