Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just-Giving page .
Here's a bit about why I'm doing this challenge.....and why I need your help!
I vividly remember July 1966… do you ?…..my Dad bought our first TV so that we could watch the World Cup together…..We were ecstatic when we WON! I really remember Bobby Moore holding up the cup and kissing it….. was 10 years old.!
Ivo …aka Dad was my rock and taught me a huge amount !When he died in 1992 of bowel cancer he was very young at 64 . Nothing prepared me for that level of loss.
Bobby Moore died a year later than Dad in 1993 aged 51 of the same cancer and his widow set up this charity to research into this hidden disease, and do great challenges to help kids.
Ivo was a great humanitarian and also a successful entrepreneur . He came to England as a refugee on the kindertransport aged 11, exactly 70 years ago , with nothing but what he stood up in, and when he died he had donated a vast amount to charity because he felt so grateful to have had the opportunity to survive.
He would really be proud of me joining this challenge to raise money for Bowel Cancer research and helping to rebuild a primary school in South Africa. He was really committed to children being given the best education they could have and helped many childrens' charities himself.
If you would like to support me and help lots of people....please dig deep and donate now. And thank you so much !
Donating through Just-Giving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
