I am swimming 2.4 miles from Bowleaze Cove to Weymouth Pier in order to raise money for the National Animal Welfare Trust. I volunteer at the Somerset centre, Heaven's Gate, once a week walking the dogs. I have seen first hand how much they love and how well they care for the animals they look after and how hard they work to rehome them to the right people in order for them to be in their forever home. The charity needs all the donations they can possibly get and are appreciative of anything they receive. Please give generously to help these wonderful animals have a better life. :)
I am raising money to contribute to the building of a couple of new kennels on a spare patch of land at the centre. These kennels will be built specifically for dogs that will be at Heaven's Gate that bit longer and need a quieter space. Possibly one for a dog to live in full time and a second as a time out space to give a few hours of daily quiet time to numerous dogs. These kennels have the potential to make a huge difference to the lives of these dogs whilst they are in the centres care. Ultimately, they will aid the staff to move forward with the dogs training and help them keep the dogs content until they find their forever homes. There will always be dogs at Heaven's Gate that will benefit from this so they will always be useful.
National Animal Welfare Trust is a Rescue and Rehoming charity; caring for and rehoming up to 1800 animals a year. They care for animals who find themselves homeless through no fault of their own, bring them back to good health, train them and finally find them a loving forever home. They never stop caring and are there as long as an animal needs them, offering continued support to everyone that rehomes a pet. Their mission is to promote responsible pet ownership throughout the UK so that one day every pet might have the responsible owner they deserve.
