David Lloyd Birmingham are entering a team to take on one of the biggest indoor cycling challenges. Knights of Sufferlandria.
We will be riding 10 Sufferfest films back to back with only a 10 min break in between each film. That's a whopping 10 hours of cycling!
We have chosen Niemann Pick as our charity- to raise funds to support families and also put to vital research into this rare genetic disorder that currently has no cure.
Zoe - Group Exercise Co-ordinator at David Lloyd Birmingham, has a personal connection to the charity, as her daughter Louise tragically died from Niemann Pick Type A when she was just 3 years old.
NPDGUK were a great support to Zoe and her family, offering help and advice at a very difficult time. The charity offer a support line for families, as well as funding specialist posts such as a clinical nurse who will work alongside families to get them access to the local services and support that they need. The charity also run annual events for families to come together and share their experiences and learn about vital updates in research, which money raised by NPDGUK help to fund.
Niemann-Pick diseases are a group of rare inherited lysosomal storage disorders that can affect both children and adults. There are 3 types A,B and C. There is currently no cure and the conditions are life limiting.
