Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On April 18th, 2010 I shall be running mine and Brighton's first marathon. I've never had any desire to run a marathon but couldn't resist running the first ever marathon in my home city. Weeks after signing up I developed tendonitis in my achilles which has restricted the amount of training I've been able to do but I've been determined to reach the start line and to run the 26.2 miles for my Dad.
My Dad, John Thompson was diagnosed with cancer in September 2008 and he died less than a month later on 14th October 2008. I shall forever be grateful to St Catherine's Hospice for the care they gave my Dad and the support they gave my whole family at this incredibly difficult time.
I'll be running with my brother Nick (who, true to form has done even less training than me!!). Any support we can get on the day will be much appreciated. Visit the Brighton marathon website for information on the route. The organisers are promising a 'carnival atmosphere' with music and entertainment along the route. I'm hoping for a time of around 4hours 45 mins. http://www.brightonmarathon.co.uk/course.html
I'll also be running for my boys Freddie aged 6, Frank aged 5 and Dexter aged 2. Hoping that they'll be proud of their mum and inspired to even greater feats, (Olympic gold medal, The Ashes, Rugby or Football World Cup, Wimbledon trophy, Cycling yellow jersey - I'm easy!!).
It would be great to know that running 26.2 miles will achieve more than just a sense of satisfaction for me. If you are able to sponsor me, even just a small amount, I would be immensely grateful.
