Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page for the team who have volunteered/decided/been persuaded to abseil 34 storeys (sorry Peter I really thought it was only 29) down Guy's Tower, the world's tallest hospital building in an event (now there's an interesting word for it) to benefit the MPD Support Charity.  On reflection on a risk-weighted basis trying abseiling on a hospital is as good a place to start as any..........

100% of the money we raise will go to MPD Support, a charity run by and for people with myeloproliferative disorders or MPDs - rare blood cancers that can affect people of all ages (from children to people in the prime of life).  These disorders cause debilitating fatigue, blood clots, heart attacks, strokes and increase the risk of leukaemia. The mission of the MPD Support is to educate and support people with MPDs while funding the search for a cure. Some examples of how the money will be used are included below.

So please dig deep and donate now - have you seen how high the tower is?!?

Funding costs:

Sponsor a patients' forum for 100 people                                 £700

Fund a junior scientist 1day/week to research new drugs      £6000

Hire a nurse 1 day/week to support trials of new drugs         £10,000

Run a national education day for MPD patients                     £12,000

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

About the charity

MPN Voice leads the way in supporting people with rare blood cancers called Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs), with accurate information and emotional support. We're funding research toward better treatments and one day a cure. Most importantly we offer hope to those affected by MPNs.
