We provide family-led care and support to children with life-limiting conditions

Story

On June 13th 2009 six intrepid friends will be competing in the great and infamous Knaresborough Bed Race.  The bed race has been run for years and years and has become a really historic occasion in Yorkshire with over 70 teams entered every year.  Its a really fun but gruelling dash round Knaresborough which some teams take really seriously training for months and some just do it for fun BUT the main point of all this is that it raises a serious amount of money for charity and that is the only reason people take part.

Last year Rory McGrath took part in the Bed Race on the Channel 5 series 'Great British Adventures' and he survived!  This year me and my friends Michelle, Emma, Naomi, Di and Sharon will make up a 6 girl team 'Lexy's Midnight Runners'.  The bed race day starts with a themed parade around Knaresborough where teams 'dress up' their beds, this year the theme is music.  We don't know what we're doing yet but if anyone has any suggestions or wants to help with design.....

So PLEASE PLEASE help us all support our charity Martin House Childrens Hospice near Leeds.  This fantastic charity supports children and teenagers with life limiting illnesses and takes care of them and their familes.  It is the most amazing place full of joy and fun and compassion.  Everytime you go there you can't help but be touched by the spirit of the children and staff.  They rely 100% on your donations to keep the place running so any donation no matter what size means so much to them.

I know its tough times out there for everyone at the moment but if you can find it in your heart and pockets to support Martin House I can promise you that it will be going to someone who really needs and appreciates it.  And there are more ways to help then just to donate money - we will take all the help we can get with designing and preparing the bed so if you want to offer support please let me know.

And if there's no better reason to dig deep or collect the coppers behind the sofa its the very fact that they've very kindly decided to hold this event on my birthday - and yes that is a river crossing you see in the picture that is at the end of the race.  If you are in Knaresborough on the 13th you are all more than welcome to come and join the fun with us for the day.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Martin House Hospice for Children and Young People gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Please sponsor us.  Thank you so much
