Story
Save the UK's CharitiesGeneral fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
I've decided to climb a Wellingtonia Redwood that stands at around 65m (213 ft) tall where we live. I will attempt 26 ascents up to 60m in a 26 hour weather window. My personal target is to ascend 26 times (1560m or 5122 ft) of vertical climbing in under 9 hours.
I will initially climb the tree in Arborist style removing any dead wood from my route. This will be carried out using all the correct safety equipment and techniques required in climbing the tree safely and in rigging the anchor of my safety rope at my top point around 60m. From there on I will convert to using Rope Access gear, using the safety rope to assist me when climbing the tree in ascent and in descent. I will wait for the perfect weather and make sure to put safety before speed.
We have chosen to support Aberlour - Scotland's children's charity as we believe it's this kind of small charity that will really need our support in order to keep on going.
Please help us support this worthy cause with just a few quid, I know times are tough but this would be hugely appreciated.
Many thank you's to you all!
