At a little after sunrise on Monday 19th January 2009, ten teams of intrepid skiers will set off from a mountain hut high in the Alps in an attempt to reach all 48 mountain hut checkpoints on the Saalbach Hinterglemm ski circus in just 7 hours. And as they clock up miles of piste under their skis, testing their route planning skills as well as ski legs, they will raise money to grant Starlight wishes for UK children facing life-threatening illnesses.

Children like best friends Hannah and Faith who both wished to visit Santa Claus at his house in Lapland. The Christmas Day before last, both little girls were laying side by side in hospital, and both very nearly died before last from their respective cancers. But, thanks to the Stüblchase teams, last Christmas got off to a wonderful start with a magical weekend in Lapland building snowmen, taking sleigh rides with reindeer and huskies, whizzing down slopes on sledges and of course meeting Santa himself!
