Story

Thank you for visiting this Amey Fundraising page for the Radcliffe Cancer Centre and Garden!

We hope you will enjoy taking part in the Amey 2010 World Cup Predictions Competition, putting your knowledge and foresight to the test by predicting the outcome of the world’s biggest sporting event – the 2010 FIFA World Cup - which kicks off on Friday 11th June.

How to Enter the Competition
It costs just £5 per person to take part, with every £ raised being match-funded by Amey and going directly to the Cancer Centre. Once registered, you will receive an email containing further details on how to play, rules, points scoring, etc. We will limit the number of places to 100, on a 'first come, first served' basis, so to avoid disappointment get registering NOW!

About the Cancer Centre
The Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals (ORH) NHS Trust has recently built a state-of-the-art, integrated Cancer and Haematology Centre, where patients receive the best possible care in a purpose-built environment that stimulates healing and offers the latest in innovative treatments. The Trust has an internationally-recognised reputation for excellence in research and cancer care, and the new Cancer Centre will enhance and improve the services for the people of Oxfordshire and beyond. The Centre brings together a wide range of cancer treatments and therapies and was designed with extensive input from patients, creating a truly patient-focused environment offering access to the latest drugs earlier in the treatment cycle.

Amey's Pledge to the Cancer Centre
Amey has pledged to raise £100,000 to support the Oxford Cancer Centre. This commitment has already funded the rooftop garden (see below), and will help enable the Trust to establish a state-of-the-art computer integrated theatre (CIT). CITs are crucial for the development of new keyhole surgery techniques which reduce recovery time and the risk of infection. Proceeds from the Amey 2010 World Cup Predictions Competition will go directly to this pledge, and will be matched by Amey.

The
Amey has helped to build a rooftop garden at the Cancer Centre, providing patients and their families with a quiet and relaxing environment to alleviate the stresses often caused by hospital stays. As part of our commitment to the Centre, the garden is tended to by Amey volunteers. We are always looking for extra people to pop along for an hour or so each month to ensure the garden looks its best for the patients and their families. If you would like to volunteer – no gardening experience is necessary – we would love to hear from you. Please contact the  Team for further information at
Communications@amey.co.uk.
