THANK YOU FOR VISITING MY PAGE!!!
Everest is the highest mountain in the world; it takes months of preparation and weeks of trekking at high altitudes to make it to Base Camp. The challenge is a once in a lifetime experience that not many people get the chance to take part in. But for me it seems like a walk in the park, having no trekking or climbing experience I am not worried about making it to the top.
You see, My Everest is bigger than this mountain, My Everest is a place that not many people have reached before, My Everest is to help those people who have stopped dreaming, My Everest is to help those people that do not have the opportunity to live their life, My Everest is helping those people who do not have access to Water, the source of all life.
I can not climb this mountain alone; I need each and every one of you to open your hearts and your minds to the struggle of these less fortunate people. I am not asking for charity but for your humanity, for you to give others the gift of life. . . .
WATER: THE GIFT OF LIFE . . . .
"We have made every living thing out of water."
3.6 Million People Die Each Year From
Water Related Diseases
84% OF WATER RELATED DEATHS ARE IN
INNOCENT CHILDREN
884 MILLION PEOPLE LACK ACCESS TO
CLEAN WATER
5000 CHILDREN DIE EVERY DAY
OF PREVENTABLE WATER RELATED DISEASES
WHAT WILL YOU DO TO HELP THEM. . . . .
There is a worldwide water crisis with billions of people living in squalor and contending with waterborne diseases that kills millions each year. Without clean water and a basic level of hygiene there can be no sustainable development in health, education or livelihoods. Without clear water people are locked into a cycle of poverty and disease.
Currently:
. 884 million lack access to clean water
. 2.5 billion lack access to basic sanitation
This water crisis is killing as many as 5000 children a day - the equivalent of 20 airliners filled with children lost everyday to an entirely preventable public health crisis.
It is a crisis driven by inequality and poverty, where the burden falls most heavily on women. It is girls who are denied an education because they are tasked with fetching water or drop out of school in adolescence because of inadequate sanitation facilities. And as adults, women continue to waste hours each day in the search for water and inevitably look after the children that are ill or dying from diarrhoeal diseases.
Money raised will go towards:
. Providing hand-dug wells, tubewells or boreholes that reach
groundwater resources
· Rehabilitation of existing wells that have fallen into disrepair, as it is more cost effective than the construction of new wells
· Hygienically sealing wells and fitting them with appropriate pumps that the communities are trained to maintain and service themselves
· Rainwater harvesting which is a viable alternative or supplementary source. Rainwater is generally collected from roofs, from where it is filtered and stored in tanks and much much more
Donating through justgiving is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Islamic Relief will receive your money faster. If you are a UK taxpayer an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you!
